Two Part Obedience Training
Our obedience program is broken up into two parts – working with the dog and working with the owner. This allows us to be able to properly prepare both the dog and the owner for the new expectations in their relationship.
Part 1 (3 – 8 sessions within 2 weeks)
Each dog training session will be 20-75 minutes, depending on attention span, cooperativeness, and overall attitude of your dog.
Your dog learn all the commands on leash from the trainer, and learns to consistently follow them when asked by the trainer. Possible commands include (but are not limited to) heel, sit, stay, down, and come. The trainer will communicate to the dog what a correction means. The trainer will begin to address any specific issues your dog may have. The trainer will do all of the work. Owners are encouraged to watch, but it is not required. At the conclusion of part 1, your trainer will perform a demonstration to show the dog’s understanding of each command.
Part 2 (A minimum of 2 sessions)
Each session will be 45-60 minutes. The trainer instructs the owner how to work with the dog properly. In that time, you will learn how to work with your dog and get the proper responses amidst no distraction and mild distractions. Distractions include pedestrians, other animals, cars, and anything else that may hinder communicating with your dog. Sessions can include visits to veterinarians’ offices, pet stores, parks, etc. Part 2 can continue all the way through off leash training, if desired.
